Weare Christian Church

Pastor Bill Stockhaus is a native New Englander, born and raised in the Worcester, MA area. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Gordon College. Following graduation he and his wife Becky (also a Gordon graduate—education) were wed and then he attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Before coming to Weare Christian Church in January 2002 he was the pastor of Glen Community Baptist Church in Glen, NH for five and a half years. Prior to his service in Glen he served Calvary Baptist Church in Peabody for twelve years, five as the youth pastor and seven as the senior pastor.

He is a very personable and approachable man of God and the Lord is blessing us through his ministry among us. He and Becky have four children Bryan, Peter, Julie and Kyle, who are all home schooled, and two dogs named Sandy and Chevy. The family loves to be outdoors whether it is cycling, fishing, camping, hunting or participating in town sports.

As part of his ministry to the community Pastor Bill serves as President of the Merrimack Basketball League, coaches Soccer & Basketball at Weare Middle School, and coaches Varsity Baseball at John Stark Regional High School. The Lord has blessed him with a number of other opportunities to serve as well.

Pastor Brian Johnsen was born into a faithful Christian home with 5 kids just outside of Princeton, NJ.  He grew up in sub-Saharan West Africa while his parents were medical missionaries some of the world’s poorest people  He earned his undergraduate degree in Forest Management at the University of Maine, Orono, where he met his wife Kristen at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.  Besides growing up in Africa, Brian has also served on missions teams to Haiti, Honduras, New York City, and Philadelphia.

Brian began ministry with Weare Christian Church working with the youth group, which he helped to lead for 5 years.  During that time, he felt God pushing him towards seminary to be better trained to help others in their walk with God.  With the support of the church leaders, the congregation, and family, Brian and Kristen moved their family to Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary where he earned his M.Div. degree in May 2011.  Weare Christian Church chose to call Brian to be Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Family Ministries in July 2011.  As a bi-vocational pastor, Brian has been working as a private consulting forester with individuals and towns in NH and MA since 2001.

Brian and Kristen have 2 daughters, Lauren and Megan, and a little black dog named Molly.  The family enjoys swimming at the lake, hiking, and biking in the summer and snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter.  They also enjoy watching the girls play soccer in the fall (with Brian as coach) and ballet dancing throughout the year.  They began homeschooling Lauren in kindergarten to allow for more “Mommy time” at home for the girls and have stuck with it ever since.  The Johnsen family eagerly looks forward to adopting 1-2 children as God brings them into their home.

Our church is located in historic Chase Village in North Weare, NH at the junction of Route 114 and Route 77 at 10 Concord Stage Road. The building which the Lord has provided for our worship center is over 100 hundred years old.
